New to Photography and new Sony Nex F3

Hi,
Looking for a little help here if you can find the time. This is not a which camera should I buy thread I just bought the F3.
First a little backstory, I have been shopping for a camera for awhile now. I had always used just point a shoot cameras or more recently my iPhone. My wife and I just had our first child and and I decided that the iPhones were just not cutting it. I wanted a nice camera but my wife had to be able to operate and she will not take the time to learn how to use something so a DSLR was out of the question, in fact she wanted me to get another point and shoot but I told her that it would just be throwing money down the drain knowing that I wanted a more quality camera. I went back and forth between the the 5R and the F3 but could not justify the extra $200 for the 5R and did not want the spend $1000 on the Nex 6, so the F3 was best "bang for my buck."
I digress, I want to be able to use the camera properly can anybody give tips or point to website, book or magazine with helpful information on how to take nice pictures what settings to use, and how to at least get started taking nice pictures. Also what kind of software should I use to edit the pictures.
Thanks in advance!
James
