My take is that the RX1 is so nearly exactly what it claims to be, a super compact, FF, premium quality, 35mm fixed focal length camera with stellar IQ and no integrated viewfinder for a hefty price.

You want to complain about the price? The lack of built in viewfinder or LCD? The average AF? Is this camera what it is represented to be or not? Just go with the camera whose specs most match your priorities and be done! If this isn't it, don't buy one and then be disappointed, don't not buy one and trash it. If there was a genuine quality issue with the one you received, that I can understand.

Anyone with a browser can get an accurate idea of who Sony is as a company, and what can be expected from their hardware, their firmware and their service. All before spending a dime.

There is one small detail though, not specific to the RX1. None of Sony's cameras today produce true 14 bit output. The compression scheme knocks that way down.
