Focal length question... 35 and 50 necessary?

I shoot with a 25mm panleica on my OMD so it's a 50mm equivalent. Am curious if a 35mm is necessary if you have a 50mm in your arsenal (I'm speaking about the 17mm 1.8 Oly)... would I see diminishing returns in the fov? Thanks in advance
