T4i, constantly trying to focus, is that normal

My wife just got me a T4i to replaced our EOS Rebel XSi. The issue is the T4i constantly is trying focus. I don't remember the XSI doing this. It would focus and take the picture. The T4i seems to constantly hunt or try and focus. Is this normal.
