To advise is to give advice. Advise is a verb. Advice is a noun. Oops, I just saw that Hank beat me to it.

Another common mistake is to say, "The person that......." It should be, "The person who....."

Another one is the use of "less" and "fewer". You use fewer when referring to several individual items. For example, "Joe has fewer cameras than Sam". "Sam has more money than Joe".

I'm a retired math teacher. We had an English teacher who corrected our grammer. It was annoying, but informative.
