Struggling to close a 600mm lens case

You should not need to exert any pressure to close the case.  You need to move the tripod foot and the set screw for the lens hood around a bit to find the correct position. Once you do the case will close easily.  I believe the foot needs to be all the way forward or back on my case when I use it.
