Nodal Point or Entrance Pupil for Nikon 24/1.4g lens?

Have you tried panoramas w/o a rail? Today's software is ridiculously good and unless you are doing something specialized (multi-row, gigapixel stuff), a ball head with an independent pan swivel is all you need. I use Autopano Giga BTW.
