I'm interested in getting my desktop monitor calibrated but when investigating the SpyderPro and Colormunki, I read that both require a video card.

Both require a video output, and graphics hardware is needed to drive this output. Any modern mainstream Intel or AMD chip comes with this graphics integrated into the CPU. You can add extra graphics hardware but this is not necessary.

The laptop that drives the monitor has no separate video card, it just has the intel graphics.

Can I use these calibration devices with my setup?

Yes but you need to fix a bug in the intel software. Fortunately this is easy to do. You just need to disable "igfxpers" which gets in the way of color management.
