Does the kit 18-55 lens really suck? A rough-and-ready investigation.

It's certainly no DA* lens but the results you can get from it are quite good if you stop it down a bit. Some samples from last year in New Orleans during Mardi Gras when I used it due to its versatility and resistance to the occasional rain shower I ran into.

I'm not sure about this last shot... I believe it was with the 18-55.
