my love-hate relationship with the RX1

now, before anyone around here jumps on me and starts calling me a troll or whatever, let me remind you that this is an open forum with people having different opinions, needs and preference. so if anyone is going to attack me because I don't agree with them or doesn't love the camera as they have, you are just making yourself and the camera look bad. this would be my own unbiased assessment of the RX1, not your biased love for it if you don't agree with me. so if you feel you can't take the heat, stop reading now.
first of all, I have to congratulate Sony for the RX1. I'm impressed with the image quality primarily and the Full-Frame implementation on it. the 35mm FOV is perfect for my taste on a fullframe which is btw, is my preferred lens length overall. I find the silent shutter very nice to hear. and the size and weight is very ideal for travel, everyday and professional work.
however, the shortcomings of the camera, made it difficult for me to love it unconditionally especially for the premium of $2,800. I find those things as huge dealbreakers that cannot be easily solved or compensated with it's IQ and FF capability alone. money is not an issue and I could afford the $2,800 but my concern is having my money's worth or simply paying for something that I'm looking for. sadly, those things are missing on the $2,800. I would love to have an OVF and EVF on the RX1 but I'm not willing to pay extra for those especially if there are other cameras that offer such for less. also, the AF is poor in lowlight and the AF performance overall is unsatisfactory for what I'm intending to use it for and looking for my next compact camera. some people would say that manual focusing is the solution, but I can do that with any other camera, and besides, I'm not paying $2,800 just to do manual focusing on demanding situations. that is exactly why I needed fast and accurate AF in the first place for such scenarios. it's too bad that the RX1 failed in that department as it would have really distinct itself from other compact camera offerings and would have warranted it's $2,800 without a problem or feeling of disappointment. plainly, I'm saying that I won't pay for something that it can do, but for what it can't do.
I'll gladly pay it for $2,800 if it has an OVF and better AF system, but for what it cant offer, I'd pay for it for $$1,800 anytime without a problem. this is how I love and hate the RX1.
