Similarly, I have my Aperture Library on my internal drive and referenced originals on a 2TB external drive.
- Time Machine backs up the internal drive
- SuperDuper backs up the external drive to 2nd 2TB external drive
I periodically update an Aperture vault that lives on the external drive, it automatically gets copied to the 2nd external drive by SuperDuper.
Side benefit: rotating offsite the 2nd external with a 3rd external gives an extra level of disaster recovery since it contains the Aperture vault and referenced originals.
