No mess nor time wasting, but someone will probably waste whole cartridges, unless he/she arranges to sell them separately, what will be difficult considering the low demand for them. True, there is wastage and I expect to have quite a few spare orange/red cartridges at some stage. But getting a whole set for the price of 1 or 2 cartridges cannot be ignored. That may up the  per ML cost by a few more cents for inks used. Retail prices for a genuine set in Australia is around  $200-$220 per set.
