Does anyone use a 50mm as their main lens on a full frame?

50mm F1.8g is super sharp, very quiet and super fast AF. I have used it on landscapes doing a panorama. It is too narrow for most landscape shots but fine for panoramas.

I tend to use the 24-70 F2.8ED lens the most as it suits the full frame for 90% of my shots.

Image quality is quite close to the primes in that range plus the ED glass and wonderful higher quality coatings give images a wonderful rendering that say the 50mm can't match. The 50mm F1.8g not having any ED glass nor Nano coatings and I assume cheaper coatings renders images slightly harshly, so does the 85mm F1.8g.

In my opinion from my extensive experience with telescope lenses as well there is no substitute for ED glass and also fluorite lenses.

Its a shame Nikon don't have any fluorite lenses in their lens lineup (as far as I know). Canon has some.

Greg.
