Why so many Tokina 11-16mm lenses for sale?

Sample variation and the move the FX

I agree that this is the type of lens that would be impacted by the move to FX. It's target audience was always that intermediate-and-up user, and I think a good number of them have bitten the d600 hook. I sold my beloved Tokina 12-24 f/4 when I made the move, and I've seen a good number of those on the used market lately, as well.

But this lens is notorious for extremes in sample variation. That might account for some of the copies out there. I'd be somewhat wary buying this lens used...
