It's still useful to Merrill shooters because it's important to understand what processing is being done.
The units for the Edge Spread graph x-axis are pixels as measured in the image. They do not represent the sharpness settings as in SPP in any way.
Putting that in another way, I could create an artificial slant edge in a graphics program and the x-axis would still be scaled as shown.
It's OK to have fractional pixels in certain kinds of calculations, as I'm sure you know but some may not. Just as Gaussian smoothing can entered in PS as a fraction of a pixel.
I was half-joking with Merrill users but the stupid DPR editor didn't show my smiley face!
