LMFAO

You may be laughing, but the X10 build quality IS extremely high. And certainly your entry level, all plastic DLSRs in many ways cannot compete with a mostly metal camera like the X10 or X20.

I've owned 2 X10s and countless DSLRs (and the RX100) and I totally agree with Limburger.

Drop a 'plastic' DSLR and an X10 onto a concrete sidewalk and see which one dents, and which one still works afterwards.

Drop ANY camera on a concrete sidewalk and you've just done damage of some type to your camera, I don't care if it's an X10, a T3i/600D or a D4.

All things being equal, I'll take a metal or magnesium alloy camera. And if camera price is a measure of quality, we pay top dollar for cameras with metal subframe or metal bodies. The same goes for lenses.

The X10 (like the X100) is an extremely well thought out design with a robust build quality for it's class.

Drop an RX100 and an X10 I'm putting my money on the X10 to survive. My RX100 always seemed a bit delicate in comparison.

My x10 has fallen to concrete from 4 ft and over 6ft. The 6ft drop put a very minor hairline crack and scuff near the battery door. It's also fallen 3 ft to a wood floor. I've been in political rallies where I have been shoved as the tight crowd shifted with it swinging on my wrist resulting in it slamming into the wall. Mine now has some paint going away on the mode dial in a spot and some scuffs in the metal, all because this camera has been treated very rough. It works just fine and has taken abuse that my pro dslr cams take. I highly doubt a plastic rebel would have survived the abuse my x10 has been through, neither would have my previous g11 taken it. The x10 is built like a tank for it's size. I don't keep it in a case. Sometimes it rolls out of the seat and around the floor of my vehicle, or lives in my wife's purse where it gets hammered around. It's a great camera to carry around that you don't have to worry about babying it. About the only way you could kill it is to drive over with a vehicle, hit it with a hammer, or drop it in the lake. It's the ultmate PJ pocket cam. Anyone that laughs about the x10's durability simply either doesn't own one, or doesn't use it to it's full potential. It's a cam you can take anywhere and shoot in almost any situation, while being incognito at the same time. You can beat the living hell out of it and count on it to operate, no different than an old Leica.
