Just received D800 back from repair (dropped on hard floor) which included an AF / sensor recalibration. AF tuned 4 lenses so far, with focus tune & a few real world shots):

24-120 f4.0 +11

70-200 2.8 VRII +18

Tamron 90mm 2.8 +19

Nikon 50mm 1.8g +20

Nikon 300mmAF-S f4.0 +20

With my D300 these lenses all require much less adjustment, mostly 0 worst case +10.

My view is that this is too far out and I should return for correct calibration. I would welcome view of other on forum.

The only question is this: do the lenses focus correctly AFTER the microadjustment?

If so, then stop worrying, go out and take photos. The numbers are completely arbitrary and +20 is no "worse" than +10 or 0 as long as the lens and camera combination focuses properly.
