What's more important; wide angle lenses or telephoto lenses?

Stupid answer: what's most important, tea or coffee?

Sensible answer (for me, when travelling):

• Most important: wide-ish normal (say 28mm on APS-C)
• Next: moderate tele (say 70mm)
• Next: wide (say 15mm)
• Next: greater tele (say 150mm)
• Next: 50mm for fancy bokeh effects

... in that order. In fact the 150mm might come ahead of the 15, as you can always stitch a wider FOV.
