Your portraits are really beautiful - but I have to disagree with your statement that "fixed focal length lenses are way too limiting for portraits". I think the Nikkor 105mm f2 is one of the very best portrait lenses made - the perfect focal length for comfortable portrait shooting. But then I don't mind taking a few steps to "zoom with my feet".
