LMFAO

You may be laughing, but the X10 build quality IS extremely high. And certainly your entry level, all plastic DLSRs in many ways cannot compete with a mostly metal camera like the X10 or X20.

I've owned 2 X10s and countless DSLRs (and the RX100) and I totally agree with Limburger.

Drop a 'plastic' DSLR and an X10 onto a concrete sidewalk and see which one dents, and which one still works afterwards.

Drop ANY camera on a concrete sidewalk and you've just done damage of some type to your camera, I don't care if it's an X10, a T3i/600D or a D4.

All things being equal, I'll take a metal or magnesium alloy camera. And if camera price is a measure of quality, we pay top dollar for cameras with metal subframe or metal bodies. The same goes for lenses.

The X10 (like the X100) is an extremely well thought out design with a robust build quality for it's class.

Drop an RX100 and an X10 I'm putting my money on the X10 to survive. My RX100 always seemed a bit delicate in comparison.

I don't doubt the Sony is delicate. I suggested viewing the video I linked to (starting at 6:45 or so) as two 'plastic' DSLR's were walked on like shoes on concrete, knocked off tripods, had a PC dropped on them from above, were even roasted with a torch, and continued to work.

dslr torture test

I am not sure in what way those "all plastic" cameras cannot 'compete' with the X10, though I certainly wish it would be included in the same test.
