I too am interested in buying the Mark III and having read the AF section of the manual several times it seems quite robust having what appears to be a rather steep learning curve. I still can't quite understand what shows up to confirm focus has been achieved. I think I need to rent one first for having it in your hands as you read the manual should help a great deal. You can also watch some of the Canon's tutorials here which may be of some help.

Yes - renting the camera has been very useful, even in just one day so far.  Awesome machine.  Will review the tutorials, for sure.  Thanks gain!
