Thank you all for taking the time to look and comment. I thought there might be a few negative comments due to the dull light and boring sky not being everyone's cup of tea but I must admit that I'm glad that the general consensus from your comments so far is that you like them. I like to take shots like these for myself and it feels like a bit of a pat on the back (which everyone likes) when I see your positive posts. I'm still working on some others of the same style from the same walk which I'll post when completed and again I'd like to hear your comments positive/negative or even just pointers on other options.
I'm glad you like the processing David, it's something I'm self learning and all done on PSE9. I would like to do more in b&w and posted a few of my tries in the b&w forum to try and gain a few pointers into what makes a good b&w shot, I think my own tend to be a bit flat. These shots from the walk are not b&w as you know but I like the mono feel myself. All I did for the processing was some levels adjustments followed by some shadows/highlights and brightness/contrast with a bit of dodging and burning. My original shots are all taken with about +2/3 stop exposure compensation to allow for the light reflected by the snow.
Thanks again.
