Mr Dophy,

Greedy landlords a problem?  Certainly - the whole notion of allowing rentiers is a scandal.  Fat & lazy folk who collect loadsamoney for doing....what?  Nuthin.  How did they acquire "their" property?  What do they do besides own it?  Do they add anything to a business occupier except a great cost that he passes on to us customers?

When I'm dictator, the enclosure acts and all other such legalised theft of the commons will be repealed.  Oh yes they will!

Councils, on the other hand, build and maintain the infrastructure that allows a business to operate.  No customers without roads and pavements to get to the shop.  No shop if the policeman is not there to ward away a robberman.  Etc..

SirLataxe, probably a pink-livered commie atheist but one who knows there are takers and there are makers.
