Thanks for your interesting contribution.

I have a S3 DSLR (love the inmense Dynamic Range!) and a Panasonic LX-2 (Compact) for travelling.

I want to acquire a new compact: LX-2 has been very nice to use, but image quality so-so, and it is somewhat beaten (6 years old). I'm in doubt whether to acquire a LX-7 now or wait two months for a X-20.

You're an experienced user in the LX-7, so I would like to know if it overcomes some of the LX-2 weaknesses:

- Is the image quality much better than the LX-2 one?

- Does it focuss fast?

- Raw files are written fast to the card? (with the LX-2 you have to wait 4 seconds for a single Raw file to be written to the card)

- Is there a decent Dynamic Range? (LX-2 struggles a bit on that)

- What about LX-7 noise at base 80 ISO ?(LX-2 has noise in shadows even at base 100 ISO)

- Is it 800 ISO usable (i.e.: decent picture quality for 10" x 15" prints)?

On the other hand, X-20 looks very promising. The problem is that I always shoot Raw and process with Lightromm. Lightroom processing of X-10 files, so far, is not good (dpreview tests)

By the way I entirely agree with the "photographic" experience with a camera (I like knobs for controlling parameters, have a nice grip on the camera, etc.).

Regards,
