Thanks for showing these very nice pictures.
However, others should not think that they represent the capabilities of that combination. The one with pine cones is quite blurred. I would have used a shutter speed much faster, because even if you with the VR were perfect, trees are always moving enough to give a several pixel blur on such a high density sensor. Also, f11 is narrow enough to cause some diffraction blurring.
With this wonderful sensor, you can shoot at iso 800 or even 3200 with very little loss of quality.

This was taken hand held in moderate window light using the d800e and the 70-200mm f4 at f4. The crop is 490mm wide, one fifteenth of the width of the full frame. If I crop it to 1/20th I start to see pixilation.
When you get to know the combination better you will be amazed! Have fun!
