I like the 60mm for happy insects that don't fly away, and the Oly 70-300 for flighty insects. It gives 1:2 reproduction at 0.96m. That's a pretty awesome working distance.

Those who have the Oly 75-300 or the Pany 100-300 can achieve similar effects (pretty high magnification combined with long working distance) by means of a close-up lens, e.g., the Canon 500D (+2 diopters). For example, with that lens on my 100-300 at 300 mm, I can get a magnification of 0.7 at 0.6 m (minimum focusing distance) or a magnification of 0.6 at 0.8 m (maximum focusing distance). If I go down to an FL of 200 mm, the corresponding values are 0.49 at 0.54 m and 0.4 at 0.7 m.
