Option 3? Buy a polarizing film, cut it down to size, and tape it to the LCD screen. In the proper orientation, this should block all the light, since LCDs are linearly polarized. (or at least the old ones are -- I think some of the fancier new ones aren't necessarily, so you might want to check this)

I think you can get linear polarizers for pretty cheap (a few bucks):
