Well I have both now so ill be testing then extensively ... It will come down to:
--how much real world reach will I lose?
--af speed/tracking
---center and off center sharpness
I know the 28-300 will not be good.. But how close can it come?

If i were you, I wouldn't buy the 28-300 to replace the 70-300.
