The extinction resolution is given as 3400-3600 (IR). I have both camera's and I think that the a99 is as sharp as the a900. actually I think he micro contrast is a bit better. furthermore the a99 stands up to sharpening much better, since the noise is lower.

Any difference in sharpness, if there, will only show when pixel peeping, gone in print. a99 results print better than a900 results, but that has to do with less noise (only visible when printing big) and a general cleaner, more refined image.

Hi.

I actually after som tests with dpreviews and imaging resources a900 and a99 photos believe the opposite. In my opinion the a900 need less sharpening than the a99. That is one of the reasons the difference up to iso 1600 is not so large.
Further more does the a900 have less noise in reds than a99 and according to imaging resources imatest results only a tad lower DR.
One in this theead said that the a99 blows the a900 out of the water but that is way out of proportions. Lets face it! It's up to iso 1600 not a large iq difference there is between a99 and a900. An if we then print its a negliable difference.

Kind regards
David
