You don't specify which lenses you got with your Panny, so it's hard to advise - my decider in keeping older models is if they suit some conditions that the newer model doesn't. SX30 clearly has a telephoto range and macro capabilities it will be expensive to replicate on your new camera and depending on your personal ambitions it could well be best to keep it until you have the complete kit for the new shooting platform you've adopted. In fact, having it may help you decide how to select equipment for your new camera.

SX30 is the not the peak of the SX series by any means and is not a collector's item - it's solidly outperformed in many or most respects by the SX40 with the same zoom. So I doubt you should either keep it or try to sell for a windfall on that basis.

I2k4, Thanks for your reply and advice. I like your criteria for keeping or not of old equipment. I will adopt it for sure. As to the lens, it is attached lens (not interchangeable). The specifics are: Canoon zoom lens 35X IS   4.3-150.5mm 1:2.7-5.8 USM.

Yes, I agree. It is good to keep until I have my complete kit but I too doubt that I will keep it after I do have a telephoto and micro, etc. It is only a fancy point and shoot, for that matter.

Thanks again
