Hi everyone

I am just emerging from a long period of depression triggered by me falling down a stack of boxes (no inferences about my IQ please) and chipping the front lens element of my Zuiko 7-14mm f4. I have since accepted a University position and at my current income I would not have been able to buy a lens like this.

A friend pointed out that Goblin (http://www.dpreview.com/members/551374374) had a such a lens element for somebody who is looking for one. I contacted Goblin and before I could wipe my eyes the lens was on its way from New York to Pretoria, South Africa - he did not even want to be compensated for the courier costs.

I took a while to send it for repair because I was in various places and was concerned that the lens would be lying around somewhere. Finally I sent it to the Olympus agent in Cape Town, TrudoTech, who replaced the lens element, cleaned and tested it for the equivalent of about $40. The job took 2 days.

I have only done rudimentary testing (focus, aperture, dust) and it looks absolutely perfect.

Here a photo of happy/lucky me with my repaired lens!!!
