nex-7 or nex-6 which is ultimately better?

I tried the NEX-6 and I used the NEX-7 regularly, and the AF on the NEX-6 when set to AF-C is very different from the NEX-7. It quickly snaps to focus without hunting.

But I normally use it with flexible spot on AF-S and here I didn't notice a difference.

I had a play with the DPR high ISO test images in Lightroom to see how much difference the latest version made in noise reduction over the older versions of Lightroom. Here's the images from the NEX-5n and NEX-7 both with noise reduction added by me to bring them all into line.



There are differences: the NEX-7 is retaining mode detail at ISO3200 at a similar level of noise, and the NEX-7 image had some nasty color blotches at ISO12800 (which surprisingly cleared up completely when color noise reduction was added).

To be honest though, the differences are so small it hardly matters. In JPG it may be another story.

What impressed me was how much Lightroom has improved. The NEX-7 image at ISO3200 has a tremendous amount of detail after the noise has been toned down, and the multicolored speckley chroma noise you see in the DPR sample images is nowhere to be seen.

I'm guessing the NEX-6 will have similar noise characteristics to the NEX-5n.
