Rant about new MI hot shoe versus old Autolock
Jan 25, 2013

My only disappointment after switching from a NEX7 to an NEX6, is the loss of the autolock hot shoe.

I have always found it so much quicker to fit and remove the flash, than the standard hot shoe which has a fiddly wheel to tighten up. Gripping the flash and pressing the release button simultaneously was a single movement.

Also the MI (Multi Interface) shoe on the NEX 6 has a lot of very small delicate looking connectors which make me want to put the protector back in, which I never do with the autolock shoe on the  7.

The same connectors are even more exposed on the flash side (or in my case at the moment on the ADP-MAA adapter) which also has it's own fiddly protective cover.
