Dealers Intentionally deceive Customers with Used/Returned Equipments? Locked

First of all, B&H isn't doing anything illegal and they're not doing anything that isn't being done by every other store, with a liberal return policy.

The problem, in this country, is the liberal return policy.

It's almost like a giant pyramid scheme. Some people are going to be very happy (those taking advantage of the return policies) and some people are going to be taken advantage of (those who get sold a used piece of equipment and pay for new).

99% of stores that have a liberal return policy, inspect the returned equipment, clean and repack it and resell it as new, provided there inspection shows no visible damage to the equipment.

Equipment that does have visible damage like scratches, etc. are sold as open box specials but companies do everything they can to keep these at a minimum.

Retailers in the U.S. are almost forced, by our spoiled society, to have a liberal return policy and would lose a tremendous amount of money if they had to resell every returned item as used.

People need to wake up and realize that nothing is free and the old rule that every action has an equal but opposite reaction is very true. Someone has to pay for the liberal returns and the people paying for new equipment but getting used equipment are the people paying for the policy.

By the way, there is no law, in the U.S., that forbids this practice. It's just business.

B&H is an excellent retailer and if they sold you something that wasn't in good condition, I'm sure they'll make things right for you.
