Only asking cause i literally just got offered a gig tonight shooting band comp at the local pub. I have my 6d to do most of the workhorse shooting but would love to invest in the xe1 for that grittier natural feel and more DR if i thought it could handle crappy band pub lighting situation and they will probably want some A3 sized prints so noise has to be under control..and which of the current lenses will be best suited? is the 35 1.4 going to do the whole job for me?

I'd say beware of the lack of ability to quickly lock focus sometimes. I have the 18-55 and for some reason the camera would not lock in focus and gives you a red focus pt (frame). It just stopped there and no reseting/hunting after that. I had to quickly find a spot with a little more contrast and try to lock focus again.

Other than that I think the noise control and DR is quite nice.
