Hi Steve, good to see yer back! do you ever see a D800 in your future?

Hi Ernie! Funny thing happened on the way to . . .

I was a VERY early adaptor for the D800. After one week I decided I really didn't need 36 mp. Sold it for a profit (they had since become unavailable) and went back to my D7000. Later I decided to go from double matted 16 x 24 inch prints to 24 x 36 inch prints on aluminum. Then I debated between the D800e and the D600. Decided the D600 would fill my needs - and save me $1,300 - which I promptly spent on a lens. I felt I could deal with the dust problem if it came up - it didn't! Not that the D800e isn't a better camera - it is - I just don't need 36 mp. My 16 x 24 inch D7000 prints are extremely sharp (resampling in PS CS6) and would equate to 24 x 36 prints from the D600. Besides, I remember what the D3x could do at 24 x 36. Stunning in the right hands.

Besides, the camera is almost a mimic of my very much loved D7000. I have yet to open the manual.
