I'd have to say that it's a "fun" camera. Generally produces excellent images from wide to it's VERY long tele range. (Except for today, for some reason. And we're figuring out that it's the operator and not the machine.) I have thought, many times, that I might be able to exist just as well with this camera alone, if I had to. The only reason I haven't, is that I have grandkids playing H.S. hockey, and I MUST use my DSLR gear for that. Although, I must admit, I did try the SX50 at a game recently. And though my keeper rate was drastically reduced from that of DSLR shooting, I still got some very good images. So with more practice, I think that, in a well lit rink, I could do OK with the SX50. That, my friend, is a real testament to what this camera can be capable of.
