It's beyond mysterious to me why Apple has let Aperture wither on the vine. The post here at DPR compares what they consider the top three RAW converter applications, and Aperture is nowhere to be found. Not even a mention in the lengthy review.

The company that virtually invented digital photography seems oddly quiet about this. It's been almost a full three years since Aperture 3.0 was released, and it's only crept up to version 3.3.

Please, no Apple bashing here, but I'd love to know why a company that just raked in $50 billion in a single quarter doesn't toss a few more engineers at making their Pro photo software a must have. It used to be.

Just as there are comparisons between  4/3d's cameras and full frame cameras,  this was a comparison between  three CROSS-PLATFORM raw converter applications. Clearly stated.

Aperture may have been a must try from time to time but it has never been a must have.  I've  owned  Macs since OS9 and have been a working pro for  25 years and I've never owned it. And never noticed.

It would have been more useful if you had specified exactly what the current version of Aperture  is not accomplishing that is preventing you from getting your work done. Why do you need A4?  There are quite a few photographers who are shooting with cameras older than 3 years without or with limited updates.  I still use iWeb from '09 and it still works perfectly.  Simply saying a product is three years old doesn't cut it.
