20/1.7 focus mechanism jammed

Last night I found my Panasonic 20/1.7 pancake wouldn't focus any more. The focus mechanism appears to be jammed at a focus distance of about 3 feet.
When I power the camera on I can hear the AF motor running for a second like it usually would, but it sounds different and the outer element does not move at all. The AF motor does not activate on half-press or on power down, and turning the focus ring has no effect.
I can still take pictures with the lens if I put the camera in manual focus (at the stuck focus distance only...). The aperture stops down correctly and it functions normally from an electronic/communication standpoint.
Has anyone ever had this problem and fixed it before? Google turned up nothing. I've tried hitting it gently and pushing on the outer element but that didn't help.
