even if you think 12M is enough.....

If you follow an airplane or a bird in flight its always good to be able to do cropping in

PP.....

Also a D800 and cropping can save you a new very big lens that you have to carry..

you sort of have a zoom built into it ( a cropzoom )....

and lots more that you can do with cropping capabilities......
