For sure, but what I'm saying is save that step in the manufacturing process, unless there's some advantage to the sensor being circular (although I think it quite the opposite, actually).

In wafer production the first step is a round silicon slab, and second step is a slicing this slab into wafers and trimming them to the specified shape. Having round wafer saves money, time, and raw materials.

Let's talk about round EVF and LCD ...
