The problem, then is with the next step. When I go to update the screen shows only the two photos I took in the earlier stage, and not the update option shown in the instructions. The file is there, but the camera (G5) is not reading it.
I also am suspicious because the file is only 248kb.
Use a totally blank, empty card that has been formatted in the camera.
No files, no folders, no other firmware updates.
It's possible other procedure may work but this is the most foolproof failsafe method as noted in the manual.
Follow these steps separately for each lens and body.
Yes, the file is small.
