How to get the best AF on D7000

First of all, be acquainted with your camera, read the manual thoroughly and practice on something you easily can take picture of. Your cat, dog, ducks, flowers, family etc.

Photography is a combination of technique+equipment, and art.

For wild birds, I normally use prime lenses with long reach. That helps to get the motive closer at least.

Art means experience and knowledge. Read books about composition. You need to try to have some sort of communication in the picture that is interesting for the viewer.

It is also necessary to know a lot about afterprocessing. Use RAW.
