Save the expense Mike and get Superzoom for birding and critters.

I have been looking carefully at the OM-D as a birding and critter & landscape camera.

I have just read a thread on this board entitled "OM-D, birding, and focus box"

It seems that the OM-D is hopeless for birding. I am not prepared to spend a couple of thousand pounds and then be forced to jump though hoops just to get the camera to focus.

Just so I can be sure I understood - can someone please confirm that there is no spot/pinpoint focus on the OM-D?

Should I be looking at the GH3, or any other 4/3?

Thanks

These shots below are all from a Super zoom the Sony HX100v, many using 5 megapixel smart zoom which is over 1200mm.   I find Super zooms very versatile and you'll get way more chances to get a  walk around hand held shot of all birds and critters without the hassle you'll have with MFT's or DSLRS and many times better images for the price of one cheap lens.

Buy one of these and an OMD for landscapes etc.
