Should i use a 24mm PC-E or correct distortion in PP?

I've never used a PC lens, but I'm thinking of renting one for use this summer for use on my D800. We're going on a 14 day river cruise up the Danube from Budapest to Nuremburg and will see a ton of cathedrals, opera houses, castles, and other architecture.
I've used perspective correction techniques in PS5 and LR4 and wonder if it would be better to rent this lens, try it out on local Wash. DC buildings to get used to it, then take it with me on the trip OR use my 24-120mm f/4 and do the corrections in PP. I also have an old 24mm f/2.8 Ai-S I could use.
I'd appreciate suggestions from folks who've used this lens about what a PC newbie should do.
Thanks for the help,
Mike
