Do Manfrotto and Gitzo ball heads share same type of

Manfrotto actually uses a number of different release plates that are not compatible with each other.

I use RC4 release plates for their stability and use both a ball head and a gear head compatible with those plates.

Arca-Swiss type plates do have a big advantage in wider compatiblity.
