Nonsense! It's not "gonzo shooting", it's about trying to show a bird in flight in a good way. The wings move very fast and every increase in fps you get will help to catch that ever so small moment where everything just comes together.

You live in a dream world. I take 1/4000 or 1/6000 or 1/8000 of second photos with the 7D!

Think about that speed.

You are a troll.

You still don't get it do you? A shot of 1/8000s that's fired 0.05 seconds too late is still not going to show what might have been the thought behind an image.

The shutter speed is irrelevant in a 6, 8 or 10 fps sequence. What is relevant is that in a 6 fps sequence one frame will follow another at best 0.167 seconds behind. At 8 fps that time goes down to 0.125 seconds and at 10 fps to 0.1 seconds. The difference of 0.067 seconds between the frames of a 6 and a 10 fps sequence might not seem like much, but with fast moving birds it is.

So you are talking about a different speed than I am.
