Jupiter-Moon conjunction
Jan 23, 2013

Last night's Jupiter-Moon conjunction was fun to watch and photograph. The first set of shots were taken before closest approach around 7:30 pm CST using my Televue85+K5 (600mm f/7). This image is a stack of 10 images taken 2 sec. apart using Triggertrap. Jupiter's visible moons are Ganymede, Jupiter, Io, Callisto (very faint).

The second set were taken at closest approach, around 10 pm CST using my Televue85+2xPowerMate+K5. This image is a stack of 18 images taken 1.5 sec. apart using Triggertrap. Now Europa has appeared after transiting in from of Jupiter. The original image is 4500x3000, but was down-sized for the web.
