it is quite feasible to use the OM-D for birding, I do it using the 75-300 and also, for close work the  45 f1.8 BUT if you want the easiest and most consistent system for this use and weight is not a concern then go the DSLR route.

I came to m4/3rds from canon 7D / 5dmk2 + L glass because of the weight (a problem because of age and infirmity)

I did have to learn new techniques (still am and its getting better) and accept a lower keeper rate but for me that was an acceptable compromise.

For most keen birders I would guess it would not be
