I'm not really interested in either.I was hoping for the 85mm.But I'm starting to think Sony is modifying their original roadmap in anticipation of the full frame Nex.My guess is they're redesigning the 85mm for full frame, being that 85mm is a classic focal length for full frame.

I would also like to see the high quality zoom lens sooner than later.I think I'll pass this round.

Why do people want 85mm? Just curious. I have the 50 and it's the most tele I can use, and more tele and I'm basically shooting the building across the street (as I have the sel55210). Is there some professional use that I'm not familiar with (I'm not pro)?

I want something to shoot when my kids have a show at school like a play or concert, but also something to shoot tennis when they're playing indoors. I use my SEL50, but if my kids are on the second or 3rd court then the 50 is too short. Every bit helps. I tried the LA-EA2 with a longer Alpha lens, but the adapter doesn't have stabilization so that's not really an option for me since I don't have steady enough hands. I can easily shoot the SEL55-210 outside up to 210, but it has OSS. This lens doesn't work inside for my needs.
